Top 50 Christian Tracks of 2013

About this playlist

Often a year's best singles align fairly closely with its best albums, but as music continues to be more singles-driven (for better or worse), standout tracks are able to rise to the top without the help of a hit album. Unfortunately, not every song that should get recognition actually does.

A perfect example of this is "Better Not to Know." Amy Grant's first album in 10 years was snubbed by the Grammys, but this understated gem shows a depth that can be found only after decades of making music. New music by Jars of Clay also didn't get the attention we believe it merited. Thankfully, we have a chance to try to rectify that, highlighting music from their Inland and Grant's How Mercy Looks from Here, as well as other personal favorites from 2013.

Tracks by artists like Steven Curtis Chapman, TobyMac, Mandisa and Chris Tomlin were obvious choices. Others are pleasant surprises, like gems from Matt Maher, All Sons & Daughters, and Citizen Way. In all, we picked 50 tracks that we believe represent the best of 2013 from across the Christian/gospel genre. Give them a listen and see if you agree.
