Napster Indie Week 2013
by Napster | March 4, 2013
From 2000s punk to 1980s pop, synth-laced jams to riot grrrl bromides, goth dirges to hardcore tirades, classic Britpop to new psychedelia, we here at Napster cover tons of what you'd vaguely call "indie" or "alternative" music. But those words are so wildly overused and perhaps completely drained of value that alt/punk editor Stephanie Benson kicks off our week-long celebration of some of the greatest music ever made by man (or woman) by immediately examining what they used to mean, and what they mean now. Check back all week for new dispatches as we dive deep into the catalogs of everyone from Radiohead to The xx to Beck to Black Flag, praising classic labels (Sub Pop! twice!), sounds (electroclash: never forget) and albums (our Top 25 Albums of 2012 might surprise even a fellow expert). There's a ton to get into here, whatever you want to call it. Enjoy yourself.
