About this playlist

For listeners who discovered Jon Hopkins through his 2011 collaboration with King Creosote, the Mercury Prize-nominated Diamond Mine, Hopkins' new solo album may come as a surprise. Where Diamond Mine found the British composer and producer adorning King Creosote's folk songs with wispy electronic detailing, Immunity dives headlong into the throbbing pulses and thrumming frequencies of outer-limits techno. But Hopkins has always been a musician of diverse talents. His early recordings (2001's Opalescent and 2004's Contact Note) explored New Age through Boards of Canada's breakbeat lens; 2009's Insides balanced glitchy electronica with chamber instrumentation. And, thanks to an assist from his collaborator Brian Eno, Hopkins' "Light Through the Veins" became the basis of Coldplay's "Life in Technicolor," the opening track on their 2008 album, Viva La Vida.

Explore the full sweep of Hopkins' career with our spotlight playlist, which highlights key album tracks, collaborations from Eno's Small Craft on a Milk Sea and Hopkins' remixes of Nosaj Thing, Agoria and David Lynch, along with remixes of Hopkins' music by Four Tet and Nathan Fake.
