About this playlist

Café Tacvba were born in a garage in a Mexico City suburb 25 years ago, and with their 1994 album Re, they cemented their place as Latin alternative icons with a massive Spanish-speaking following. The group has no equal, because it is unique in sound, a feat enabled by having the huevos to keep doing, musically, whatever they want whenever -- and be loved all the more for it. More than just another rock en español band from Mexico, Emmanuel "Meme" del Real and brothers Josélo and Quique Rangel brought the language of Mexican rhythms and instruments into their art rock conglomeration. The group's seductiveness was certain with the presence of Rubén Albarrán, a realist punk who seems to whisper in your ear even when he is screaming on stage.

The band has announced plans for an extended tour and new recording in 2015. For now, to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Re, take a trip through Tacvba's past and present with this tribute playlist.
