About Xerramequ Tiquis Miquis
Originating as just a pick-up band for two Barcelona musicians, Marc Serrats and Marc Grau, Xerramequ Tiquis Miquis quickly transformed into something greater. Distinguished musicians -- including Joan Garriga of Dusminguet -- kept joining the fray, and then the group released its shambling, playful self-titled debut and the heat really turned up. The group sings primarily in Catalan, the language of their home province Catalunya, and frequently references Catalan culture in the lyrics. Their 2006 release Obrador saw the group collaborating with another band that champions small regional languages, France's Massilia Sound System, while also experimenting with genres like drum 'n' bass.
