Though billed as a compilation, this two-volume set released in 1988 and 1990 was really the work of Genesis P-Orridge, one of the masterminds behind the industrial icons Throbbing Gristle and Psychic TV. Under a host of aliases, P-Orridge and collaborators dug into the samplers and drum machines of acid house, turning out a surrealistic sound churning with a seductive funk. Acid house's gurgling basslines and rat-a-tat cadences sounded, if anything, even weirder in the hands of these stylistically promiscuous post-punks.
