Label: The Rich and Famous
The probably ale-quaffing Aussies in The Rich and Famous (featuring two Hoad brothers who used to be in late '80s RCA hopefuls Kings of the Sun) pay blatant homage to AC/DC with their theme song, "Rich and Famous." (Shades of wealth-rocking '90s AC/DC fans the Upper Crust?) But on this hungry 2006 album, "Fight" jabs and weaves; "Rock Funkin" is a dandy disco-rock move; and even the Tom Waits-ish "Money for You" is a grower. They're also not averse to dancing their vampire-pop mess around like their old countrymen INXS, or dumping a jigger of sax or sex moaning or country twang into the mix.
