Released:
Label: Versatile Records
The Big Crunch Theory is a collaboration between Chateau Flight's Gilb-R and the French singer-songwriter Lisa Li-Lund, and their debut album is something of an outlier in the Versatile catalog, abandoning dance music in favor of bright-eyed indie pop with echoes of labels like Sarah, Postcard and Morr Music. There's a distinctly twee sensibility behind ditties like "Eyes' Lies," but the title track proves them capable of darker, more nuanced harmonies and electronic textures; Etienne Jaumet lends his analog touch to the throbbing electro-pop of "637."
