About Terry Robb
Robb is a mainstay on the Portland, Ore. blues scene. Having worked as a producer and guitarist with such artists as John Fahey and Curtis Salgado, Robb has also released a handful of solo records. While Robb is an adequate singer, he is an astonishingly forceful and distinctive acoustic guitarist. He excels at Country Blues and Delta Blues, reinterpreting the works of Charlie Patton and Mississippi John Hurt so that they sound fresh and different. He is also a terrific writer of original songs that feel classic. The most striking thing about Robb is the way he takes his acoustic guitar into a trio or quartet format with bass, drums and piano or harmonica. He holds his own against those other instruments with rhythmic punch and pristine clarity. Well worth checking out.
