About Terry Evans

Evans has an extraordinary voice, a gruff rumbling baritone that can be quietly seductive or boisterously raucous. Like so many R&B and blues singers, he got his start in church singing Gospel. In the 1970s he teamed up with singer Bobby King and they worked as a duo, touring and recording on their own and as backup vocalists for Ry Cooder, among others. Since stepping out on his own, Evans has released a series of critically acclaimed solo records that find him mining a deep vein of Soul Blues and growing immeasurably as a songwriter.
