The didgeridoo is one of the weirdest instruments on the planet. In the U.S. it's often been the province of hippies, but when you get past those connotations, it exerts a truly strange and almost psychedelic pull. Its gruff and guttural yowl seems to emanate from deep inside the earth itself. Kent's 2004 album has semi-mystical origins: It was recorded in Oakland, Calif.'s Chapel of the Chimes during the summer solstice. He didn't know he was being recorded, and he was hooked up to a digital processor that delayed and harmonized with his playing. The first 100 minutes were captured on tape.
