A group of people raising their voices in concert could give an atheist goose bumps, and here the Soweto Gospel Choir does its best, yet again, to work believers (and non-) into a state of sustained exuberance. Be warned: They are darned good at what they do. The traditional township numbers are full-to-bursting affairs that take catharsis and stretch it to the limits of human endurance, with healing as their goal. They take Aretha Franklin's cover of Simon and Garfunkel as the jumping-off point for "Over Troubled Water" -- it's great, but they could've gone without the smooth-jazz sax.
