About Sonic Boom

When Spacemen 3 acrimoniously fell apart in 1991, Jason Pierce formed Spiritualized and Sonic Boom (Pete Kember) eventually formed Spectrum. As with his former band, Sonic Boom's solo offerings are blissed-out, heavy-lidded affairs that hypnotize with mesmerizing guitar drone. Swirling guitar tones clash in unison with overamped distortion and atonal textures to create the sprawling, infinite sound that has become Sonic Boom's calling card. In 1994, Sonic Boom spearheaded the Experimental Audio Research project with like-minded musicians into guitar-based explorations (such as My Bloody Valentine's Kevin Shields), and he continues that project between solo outings.
