In the great tradition of Pat Boone and Dread Zeppelin, California ska punk veterans Reel Big Fish bring the yuks with horn-laden covers of hair metal, classic rock and vintage reggae songs. They do drop the irony for a cover of punk pop band Edna's Goldfish ("Veronica Sawyer") that turns out to be the best (read: most fun) song on the album. Interestingly, Mellencamp's "Authority Song" lends itself surprisingly well to the treatment. So if you've ever wondered what the world would be like had Madness written "Brown Eyed Girl" instead of Van Morrison, well, here's your chance.
