About Push Kings
Sometimes it seems like the Push Kings should have a love-hate relationship with their music. Live (and recorded), the band explode like an electrified centerfold from Teen Beat magazine. It's sad that they don't seem to identify with their inner teen idols, because they play it up so damn well. Imagine someone taking 1970s bubblegum pop and pushing that sound as far as it can go. What if the Osmonds actually had substantial songs? Could you imagine what it would be like if the DeFranco Family were obsessed with George Harrison's All Things Must Pass? What if Leif Garrett was more into the Beach Boys than the base pipe? The answers to all these questions can be found within the smile-inducing, candy-flossed music of the Push Kings (or in Hanson, but the PK guys are much cooler).
