About Peter Ostroushko
This highly acclaimed multi-instrumentalist's primary vehicle is mandolin, although he's also an accomplished guitarist and fiddle player. Peter Ostroushko is probably best known to listeners as one of the musicians on the syndicated radio show A Prairie Home Companion. Along with appearances on the show, this first generation son of Ukrainian immigrants has enjoyed a long career as a sought-after session musician and sideman to such notables as Emmylou Harris and Norman and Nancy Blake. Ostroushko is a harmonically sophisticated player who swings like a jazz artist and picks with the dazzling speed of the best Bluegrass players. Although well versed in Bluegrass, he's also recognized for playing Ukrainian folk music.
