Released:
Label: Peaceville
The self-released 1985 debut from Arlington, Va.'s veritable inventors of doom metal is a raggedly produced, unabashedly raw exercise in mid-tempo riffology, face-punching drums and longhaired metal dude vocals. Throughout the album, the guitars are so blown out you can practically feel the speaker cones on their amps frying. Relentless was originally released with a different song order, and this reissue puts the fistfight of a demo "Death Row" first -- but it's the title cut (the original opener) that fans of Saint Vitus, Trouble, Motorhead and Slayer will want to crank first.
