But Hissing Fauna sounds as if Kevin Barnes and Co. have rounded up a bunch of musical icons for a massive, mind-blowing communal freak-out. Every track still sounds like it's been run through the '60s and come out of the wash a little tie-dyed, but this time around Beck-esque funk, John Hughes-era dance rock, and even post-Jagger garage rock all join Barnes' band of Merry Pranksters. "Faberge Falls for Shuggie," for example, is like Prince on Sesame Street, only way, way, weirder. Turn on, tune in, drop out, baby....
