Released:
Label: Motown (Capitol)
Much like Libra Scale, this is a concept album about a swinging guy who meets a good girl and... you can guess the rest. The subtext is that Ne-Yo wants to win back an R&B crowd that didn't like his EDM hits, so he immerses himself in the amusingly sleazy acoustic soul of "Story Time" and the ratchet-ness of "She Knows." There are dance cuts, too, like the warm trance melody of "Who's Taking You Home," and the hip-house of "Coming With You." As a Michael Jackson acolyte, Ne-Yo's urban pop instincts have no bounds, and they make for an entertaining package on Non-Fiction.
