About Linda Jones
Linda Jones had a big, dramatic, gospel-soaked voice that was heard by very few ears in the late '60s. She had begun performing at age 6 as a part of a family gospel group. Blessed with a dynamic range that bordered on near-hysterics but always maintained, she had the unfortunate luck of only being noticed by a few independent labels. The closest she came to a hit was with "Hypnotized" in 1967 on Loma Records. A severely overlooked Soul singer, her melismatic deliveries came to an unfortunate close after collapsing backstage at the Apollo in 1972. Even a strong posthumous release For Your Precious Love could not garner the accolades that she deserved.
