Label: Versatile Records
On his debut album, in 2003, Joakim brought to his own music the same kind of crate-digger's sensibility that distinguished the early years of his own label, Tigersushi, which started out by reissuing left-field classics from the likes of Cluster, Material and Gina X. Evoking Metro Area and LCD Soundsystem, the punchy, electro-disco jams "Come into My Kitchen" and "Cotton Gun" are obvious hits, with detours into Krautrock and '70s soundtrack music rounding out its odd, engaging scope.
