Flutist Herbie Mann worked with pianist Bill Evans on a number of occasions, most notably on their duet disc Nirvana. Here, Mann pays tribute to his old friend, putting his own spin on such Evans compositions as the title cut, "Turn Out the Stars," "Waltz for Debbie" and "Blues in Green" (which Miles Davis got credit for). It's beautiful, with Mann multitracking his flute the way Evans sometimes did on the piano. Nice support from guitarist Bruce Dunlap and Randy Brecker.
