Because Hellyeah is a groove-metal supergroup from Texas, one featuring its very own Pantera alum, drummer Vinnie Paul, metal scribes often compare the group to the mighty Down. In all honesty, though, Hellyeah doesn't groove quite as convincingly. A little too much neo-Southern rock schmaltz oozes from tracks like "Hell of a Time" and "Better Man," both of which share more with Kid Rock than Pantera. Still, the group drops more than a few quality rockers, among them "Debt That All Men Pay" and "Pole Rider," a thoroughly tasteless stripper anthem with a high-decibel cowbell.
