About Grey DeLisle
Inspired by pre-Civil War ghosts and old-timey music, Grey DeLisle's music reenacts old tones and antiquated sounds while maintaining a relevant sensibility. She balances this musical juxtaposition of past and present with an ease and grace unmatched by any of her contemporaries, except maybe Gillian Welch. DeLisle grew up with a Pentecostal mother who literally burned her daughter's Depeche Mode and Cure cassette tapes. With only sacred music around the house, it's safe to assume that some of that old-time religion has crept into DeLisle's songwriting.
