Released:
Label: Frank Sinatra Enterprises
When Sinatra came out of a short retirement in 1973, soft rock had officially replaced jazz as the lingua franca of adult popular music. Sinatra could've (and should've) fought this trend -- instead, he joined it. He's in good voice, and this contains Stephen Sondheim's regal "Send in the Clowns" (arranged by Gordon Jenkins), but pretty much everything else is bad news: the bland Don Costa string charts, the sugary tunes (including "Noah," which could a career low) and the general air of defeat. Sinatra always battled everything, so it was a shock to see him go soft (rock).
