Estelle's All of Me sounds different from her 2008 breakthrough Shine. Maybe it's due to changing trends, but this follow-up seems less feisty and inspired. She seems to acknowledge this on "The Life," where she raps, "you can take your opinions and eat cheese." Eventually, you'll get used to All of Me's slick contemporary R&B, replete with cameos from genre stalwarts like Trey Songz and Chris Brown (on "International Serious") and Rick Ross (on "Break My Heart"). But a terrific closing song with Janelle Monáe, "Do My Thing," hints at what might have been.
