This is Edwyn Collins' first album after he suffered a cerebral hemorrhage in 2005. Home At Last features the hallmarks of the old Orange Juice mastermind -- keen pop instincts tempered by an experimental bent and a melancholy vibe as well as sly humor. Yet Collins has always been a singer-songwriter who works with a concept sound. Here the studio doesn't mask the warm roots-rock centers of songs such as "Heavy Sigh," "7th Son" and "Superstar Talking Blues." Another solid addition for an artist who has long deserved to have his sales match his sterling reputation as a post-punk guitar pop pioneer.
