This six-song, 37-minute second chapter in Down's mini-album series inches Phil Anselmo's long-running New Orleans post-Pantera project a little closer to the blues -- thanks maybe to new axeman Bobby Landgraf, from Texas stoner-boogie power trio Honky. Closer "Bacchanalia" caps seven minutes of sluggish sludge with two minutes of ocean atmosphere. But "Conjure" is legit psych-reverbed Sabbath doom; "Hogshead / Dogshead" shreds speedily enough; "Sufferer's Years" rages at seasonal affective disorder. And Anselmo's higher register in "We Knew Him Well" even has a bit of Captain Beefheart in it.
