From the opening moments here it's plain that Trucks not only is descended from the Allman Brothers Band (his uncle is Allman's drummer Butch Trucks), but that he paid attention to what the brothers were up to, even getting Duane's guitar sound right. From this starting point, Trucks, his band and his prodigious guitar talent peel off in a dizzying variety of directions, consistently touching on jazz and funk, but always with exploratory elements of Indian and Middle Eastern music muddying the water. This is true jam rock.
