Mr. Twisted Sister spends half his all-showtunes album emphasizing Broadway's seedy side, and hence drawing legit links to glam's low-life sleaze. He takes lyric liberties (the "Big Spender" Cyndi Lauper duet references girls having fun), but still lets his hard-living male Chelsea roommate in "Cabaret" get "laid out like a queen" at corpse time. Sweeney Todd's razor-wielding demon barber, the bodies oozing life in "Mack the Knife," and Phantom of the Opera make metal sense too, as does trying to update Fats Waller Aerosmith-style. And in true metal tradition, things get schlockier from there.
