The British kings of black metal drop the symphonica of their past with this, their 12th proper album. Maiden-ish pirate metal passages may be something of a new occurrence, but the ever unholy screeching of singer Dani Filth and the occasional appearance of a narrator are familiar and welcome hallmarks of Cradle of Filth's sound. Plus there's nothing wrong with those Maiden bits. It just means more guitars, and what self respecting metal fan doesn't love guitars? Not to mention perfectly harmonized twin guitar leads.
