Released:
Label: Earthology Records
This reissue couples two albums recorded before Cloud Cult's rise to indie-pop darlinghood in 2006, with the release of Advice from the Happy Hippopotamus. Much like Guided by Voices' pre-Bee Thousand records, They Live on the Sun and Aurora are sprawling, up-'n-down affairs full of brilliant ideas, as well as aesthetic dead ends. Though they lack cohesion, both albums exude an exciting sense of exploration for exploration's sake that's somewhat absent from Cloud Cult's more popular output.
