Label: Parlophone Catalogue
This was Bobbie Gentry's second solo album of 1968 (and her third theme set built around her childhood memories), and she was obviously running out of original songs. So, Gentry artfully connects three choice Beatles songs with elements of her past in the Deep South. Songs such as "Sweet Peony," "Peaceful" and "Casket Vignette" are as vividly written and performed as ever, but this album didn't connect with the public. It was starting to look like Gentry's own material wasn't sentimental enough (or was too realistic) for mass pop or country appeal.
