Hotel California improves upon 2012's Careless World. Once again, Tyga blends brittle club tracks with R&B-inflected yacht-raps, but he balances the styles better, and the pop melodies of "Diss Song" and the Chris Brown-assisted "For the Road" are more convincing this time. Tyga isn't a great MC, but it doesn't matter -- he just needs an engaging personality. The problem with Hotel California is that it may not have a major hit like 2012's "Rack City," despite his attempts at ratchet anthems like "Get Loose" and "Molly." Sometimes lightning doesn't strike twice.
