Label: BanjoDad Records
With each release, Trampled By Turtles grow a little more comfortable toeing the line between modern bluegrass and alternative-leaning, dreamy folk. For a band renowned for their breakneck banjo playing, they are amazingly restrained on Wild Animals; the blitzkrieg doesn't bop until six songs in, when "Come Back Home" muscles its way in. And that's fine, because what they are offering is quite satisfying, with sophisticated arrangements that nudge songs like "Are You Behind the Shining Star," "Silver Light," "Nobody Knows" and the title track down a dustier, somewhat ethereal path.
