Released:
Label: Legacy Recordings
The Groovies' second record, Flamingo, doesn't always get the accolades that Teenage Head does. But after listening to "Comin' After Me," "Headin' for the Texas Border," "Second Cousin," "Road House," "Jailbait" -- damn near every tune -- it's hard not to count The Flamin' Groovies among the best bands, if not the best rock 'n' roll band, the U.S. has ever produced. Flamingo came deep in the pocket of their pre-"Shake Some Action" period, when they were just a ferocious r'n'r unit. This is essential listening. Even the bonus throwaways on this 1999 Buddha re-issue are good.
