The teenage Alex Chilton already had a gravelly R&B singing style, but on their third LP he sounds positively froggy (comically so on "Yesterday Where's My Mind"). Nothing here is truly essential, but the album is entertaining and it does include two minor hits in "Choo Choo Train" and "I Met Her in Church," a somewhat ridiculous but impossible to resist gospel pastiche. Other fine cuts include "She Shot a Hole in My Soul" ('60s song titles rule!) and "Sandman."
