Released:
Label: Silver Arrow Records
Croweology may be made up of acoustic versions of hits and album cuts from the band's debut to Lions, but that doesn't mean it doesn't rock. Where the original versions of "Jealous Again," "Remedy" and "Thorn In My Pride" marked the band as a modernization of The Faces with Skynyrd heaviness folded in, the cuts here reveal the Robinson bros' ability for subtlety; some of the best songs even sound like The Band. "Hotel Illness," for one, offers solid proof that The Black Crowes are still damn near the last band playing rock music.
