Label: Rhino
More comprehensive collections have since been released, but From the Vault remains a perfect introduction to the endless reels of unreleased music the Beau Brummels recorded in the mid-'60s. Case in point: this compilation covers 1965 only. Had this stuff been released at the time, the Brummels would've been hailed as inventors of a fuzzed-out brand of Johnny Cash-inspired folk rock. The ominous "Gentle Wanderin' Ways" is worth the price of admission alone. What a criminally underrated band.
