Fans of Soul Asylum have waited eight long years for this follow up to Candy from a Stranger. The good news is Dave Pirner sounds as raspy as ever and the band has written a batch of songs that recalls the olden days, but is certainly not mired in the past. If anything, Soul Asylum sounds more like the Replacements (in their quieter moments) than the Replacements sounded on their last few records. Featuring original bass player Karl Mueller, who tragically died of throat cancer in 2005.
