Led by seminal garage revivalist, Greg Cartwright, Reigning Sound was formed in 2001 in Memphis. Cartwright is a vet The Compulsive Gamblers and The Oblivians, which both had huge influence on ought years Detroit garage bands like the White Stripes. The band's debut was "Two Sides to Every Man," a three-song 7", released in May of 2001. It was followed a month later with the debut LP, "Break Up, Break Down," which appeared on Sympathy for the Record Industry.
