Released:
Label: Xl
A couple years back Ratatat took the electro/art rock concept that Andrew W.K. introduced via the original Party Til You Puke EP and transformed it into something delicate, ornate and uniquely their own. It's tempting to file LP3, the duo's third proper album, in the IDM section, or even in post-rock. But it bubbles with too much pep, too much love for classic rock, to be truly indie. Simply listen to the Brian May-inspired licks on "Mirando" and how they slink over what sounds like a rhythm built from vintage Atari chirps and afrobeat/Tropicalia boogaloo. Now that's neato.
