Nostalgia 77's Benedic Lamdin may have gotten his start making sample-heavy electronic music, but these days he comes across more like a British answer to Jack White or T-Bone Burnett, modern-day classicists with singular visions. After the jazz-funk emphasis of 2012's The Taxidermist, he shifts his focus to folk and soul, spinning echoes of Stax and Van Morrison into a gorgeous, subdued sound that's easy like Sunday morning. The German singer Josa Peit figures prominently, and Jeb Loy Nichols also appears.
