Label: Sony Music Latin
On her solo debut, the former frontwoman for Latin outfit La Quinta Estacion manages to both considerably broaden her musical horizons and stay closely connected to her foundational band's roots. She tries hip-hop flamenco ("Encierrame"), norteno-esque accordion ("Si No Esta Usted"), radio-friendly salsa-pop ("I'll Take It Back") and, oh yeah, English lyrics. Gluing it all together are adult-contemporary-leaning Latin rock (which does sound a bit dated) and, especially, Jimenez's big, throaty vocals, which are good enough to make us want to hear them in a more chic, cohesive setting.
