Released:
Label: Legacy Recordings
Hell in a Handbasket is bombastic, uncontrollably pompous and packed with overstated rock anthems. So yeah, it's a Meat Loaf album (though one without any input from longtime collaborator Jim Steinman). Usually, the Loaf howls about love, passion and sexual ecstasy. But here he's mainly concerned with the calamitous state of our planet, as well as his own place in it. He's really angry; that's for sure. The record's oddest moment has to be the politically charged "Blue Sky/Mad Mad World/The Good God is a Woman and She Don't Like Ugly," featuring a cameo from none other than Chuck D.
