Released:
Label: Editions Mego
SND's Mark Fell practices a curious kind of deconstruction on Sentielle Objectif Actualite, his fourth solo album for Editions Mego. It sounds as though he's disassembled classic club tracks, lost a few pieces, and screwed them back together at odd angles. The chattering drum machines and pastel chords are borrowed from deep house and techno, but his rhythms don't line up in conventional ways, falling instead into 7/4 cadences and even more impossible-to-parse polyrhythms. It's all incredibly meticulous, prickly and a little unnerving; it's also hard to pry yourself away.
