Three 6 Mafia always functioned best as a large hip-hop posse, and the group has gone downhill since Lord Infamous and Crunchy Black left (witness 2008's miscarriage Last II Walk). For Clubhouse , Infamous taps into the same formula he's been employing since the early '90s: shouted chorus about bitches, arsenals and drugs; whirring synths that approximate Ed Wood on PCP; and posse cuts. There are some obvious standouts ("Work That Scale," "High as a Fool"), but there's little new here.
