Label: Columbia/Legacy
Leonard Cohen played his first live dates in over 15 years in 2008. The old bard really must've enjoyed them, because he soon undertook an entire world tour, one that stretched into 2010. Benefiting from great acoustics, as well as top-notch production courtesy of one Ed Sanders, Songs From the Road is a classy collection of recordings culled from that tour. Cohen -- all husky and somber and wise -- sinks his teeth into a smattering of classics. "Chelsea Hotel #2" in particular still feels powerful: "You told me again you preferred handsome men/ but for me you would make an exception."
