Put away your Free Design records, indie kids, because this here is the real lost classic of '60s sunshine pop. Shortly after Jan Berry's near-fatal car crash in 1966, Dean Torrence, still working under the Jan and Dean moniker, put together this 14-track song cycle about rain, romance and more rain. Pet Sounds it's clearly not. Torrence, however, filled the album with a sugar-caked brand of psychedelic pop that predated indie tunesmiths like the Lilys and Apples in Stereo by nearly 30 years.
