Bongo Rock by Incredible Bongo Band

Album

Play on Napster
Released:
Label: Mr Bongo
Issued in 1973 by record executive and bongo player Michael Viner and a team of studio musicians, this collection of jazz-funk instrumentals has been strip-mined by sample-hungry producers for decades. It's not hard to hear why: Nearly every track on Bongo Rock has a memorable break, from the piping military horns at the center of "Bongo Rock" to the drum kit solo near the end of "Last Bongo in Belgium." Of course, the epochal "Apache" needs no introduction. The 2006 reissue includes several cuts from a follow-up album, The Return of the Incredible Bongo Band.
